Bury chicken wire just below the surface. The plants can still grow and after a couple times of hanging a claw in the wire, Sparky will get the hint. You might also give him his own place to dig. I use a plastic kiddie pool with sand.
Reply:your local hardware's garden or pet department, or your local discount department store will carry, believe it or not, coyote urine that will frighten most animals away; it comes in a spray bottle. There is also a Hartz Mountain product called Outdoor No! that repels dogs with a strong scent that is unpleasant to them. The coyote product will cost more, but is more likely to work.
Reply:shake on cayenne pepper
Reply:mix cheyene pepper with water in a spray bottle and spray the plants near the roots
