Hi, has anybody got any good and sensible ideas of keeping cats off my new flower bed and using it for there new toilet. Also any ideas on how to train them to use a certain area?
We have a cat ourselves but seem to have alot a visting cats too!
Any ideas would really help.
Help with keeping cats off flower beds !!!?
I had the best luck with chickenwire.
Place the chickenwire over the flowerbeds (cutting holes for your plants to grow thru) and lightly cover with mulch or dirt.
Cats cannot dig in the chickenwire.
Reply:Glad I could help! Was the only way I could get my Iris garden to flourish. Report It
Reply:Sprinkle some cayenne peper around the area that they bother. Replace as often as necessary.
Reply:Put a few moth balls on the soil. They don't like the smell. Works for house plants.
Reply:I was always told to use hot pepper seeds....
Reply:Used teabags soaked in TCP
Orange or lemon peel, they don't like citrus smells.
You can get sprays and pellets from garden centres, but make sure they are animal friendly, children friendly too.
Reply:buy a big pot of white pepper sprinkle it all over your flower beds but not the area u want the cats to use they will get used to the clear area and only use that.
Reply:Citrus rinds and coffee grinds mixed into/onto the soil is the advice I've received. I can't tell you if it works because I haven't tried it yet.
If you can add chips or gravel or something undirtylike over the beds that might help too.
And provide a nice loamy soil area where you want to encourage them to go.
Reply:If worse comes to worse, as a last resort...IF there are no plants you eat anything from and no dogs or other animals in danger of consuming it, try a few moth balls.
Reply:You can get some special plants what cats will avoid, called a scardy cat plant! honestly, try www.vanmeuwen.com/gull!!!
Reply:Get a motion sensor water squirting frog.
Reply:Mothballs used to be used......might be hard to find these days.
Reply:cayenne pepper, lemon and orange peels moth balls, put these around your flower bed, cats dont like it
Reply:Ask your local zoo for some Tiger poo, honest they don`t like that. Many zoos have a waiting list for tiger dung.
Reply:to keep off either put cat repellent down or pepper dust,or orange or lemon peel to stop
Reply:spray them with a hose. they will eventually get the idea. you can also try putting out a litter box or just a sand box for the outside cats
Reply:put lemon or orange peel down cats hate it honest
Reply:dried blood. You can get it at any garden center %26amp; it comes in a 5 lb. bag. It's also good for a soil conditioner. Or use a few mothballs on top of the soil %26amp; bury a few about an inch under the surface.
Reply:Hmm cant you get a spray that stops them from doing that?
or maybe you should put a little sharp fence around it.
or spray catnip in another area to attract them there rather than on your flowers?
