How do i deter cats from digging in my flower beds?

I've used mothballs before. The cats don't mind digging in the wood mulch, but combined with mothballs, they stopped totally. However, be careful with the use of them because they can cause toxicity in the cat if the cat continues to be a problem and ignores them. Chicken wire does a fine job. My mother-in law places it over her beds, and then covers it with mulch. Good luck!

How do i deter cats from digging in my flower beds?
do what my mum does and throw a bucket of water over the cats =D that keeps them away at my house
Reply:My neighbour has bought toy snakes 2 stop cats goin in his garden n it seems to b workin.
Reply:don't listen to the person who said to use anti freeze in a bowl she is a sick person , only sick minded people would say something like that.

I'm having the same problem with my cats they always are digging up the potted plants I'm going to see if I can get some small holed chicken wire fencing and see if that works.
Reply:If they are flower beds that have wood around the edges, my mother would always put chicken wire on top of the beds and then take a staple gun to secure it to the wood. The only problem is that if you are planting carrots or anything you need to get from the ground it makes it a pain to get them. The plants will grow easily through the wire and you can still water them. Hope this helps!!
Reply:If you don't want the cats to "fertilize" your flower beds you can purchase a pet repellent. These really smell and they may repel you as well. They'd need to be reapplied after watering or after rain, though. You could try a couple of "pinwheels" that will move in the wind. Some are kinda cute and if the cat is timid enough it may be frightened away. You could also try some sort of mulch that has big chunks so that digging won't be a pleasant experience for the cat. Cats usually don't like citrus, so you could tuck some orange rinds around your flowers. Or, you could try them all, depending on how big your flower bed is.
Reply:Plant society garlic. They're very pretty plants with light purple flowers, but they give off a slight garlicky smell (the blossoms are yummy in salads). It's not enough to turn humans off, but many animals don't like it. Go to a nursery or garden center and take a sniff.
Reply:Keep them indoors.

Or go to your local hardware store and see if they have any SAFE pet repellant (safe for pets!)
Reply:Pitbulls. Hungry pitbulls.
Reply:Apparently large pop bottles full of water deter foxes it may help with cats (they see their reflection and run away!!!) Worth a try
Reply:put a fence...a really BIG fence if u have to
Reply:This sounds weird but try sprinkling red pepper around your flower beds. It really works
Reply:put some anti freeze in a little bowl and hide it in there. (do it only if you want them to die though)
