the soil seems to be very dry in it, needs constant watering, what would be something good i can add to it to help that?
I have flower beds along my house that are enclosed by brick..?
You could buy a soaker hose and place it directly in the beds and leave it there. Then every so many days hook your regular garden hose up to it and let it run a couple hours to get a good soaking. That has worked for me. Good Luck!
Reply:Dig it up, add lots of mulch, and plant things that don't require a lot of water. Also can try putting big rocks or planted pots too down in between the plants to help conserve water from evaporating.
Reply:you can dig up the soil and mix in some peat moss and potting soil with the soil that is already in it!they will help retain the moisture! and it helps to water it with a soaker hose but not all of the time because if you leave one on it all of the time it will become to moist and have fungus!
Reply:Yes the soaker hose is a good idea, also to hold in the moisture, a good mulch in the bed, either bark or composted leaves, etc. Peat moss holds in moisture also.
When the mulch gets going and is thick enough, add some worms for aeration. But don't drown the worms.
You can put your coffee grounds and apple peels, etc. in the bed to decompose for more mulch and to feed the worms.
