I have 3 flower beds, and one of them is infested with a fungus (mushrooms). Does anyone know of something that will get rid of the fungus without killing the bedding plants and other greenery in the bed?
How do you control fungus and mushrooms growing in a flower bed?
I'm a mycophile (I love mushrooms) so these questions pain me. You are doing everything right for your garden or the mushrooms wouldn't be there. If you must get rid of them there are two methods. First, stop watering, mulching and adding compost to your garden and the mushrooms will die. Or add Epsom salt to your soil. Mushrooms hate pH changes and magnesium and Epsom salt does both. Epsom salt lowers pH, so if you have acid soil, this tip won't work any better than my first suggestion. RScott
Reply:daconil. it's a lawn and garden antifungal agent. you can buy it at any lawn and garden center, box stores included.
bear in mind that fungus bloom occurs when it's warm and wet.. once it dries out, you probably won't see it anymore. Fungus is actually beneficial to flower beds and it's better not to try to kill it. It turns dead organic matter back into the earth and makes your soil richer.
