They are pooping in my flower beds and it just isn't good. I don't want to use mothballs, because a garden is supposed to smell good, not like mothballs.
Anything to keep them out that doesn't smell strongly?

How can you keep cats out of a flower bed?
You can use tobacco dust, they don't like the smell and it makes them sneeze. You will have to look for it at a feed store in your area. Its also environmentally safe.
Reply:I bought a bottle of red pepper and one of black pepper at the dollar store and scattered it in my flower beds and herb garden and it worked. I also spread some at the entrance to my property they used.
Reply:A 22 should do it...
Reply:You don't need any of that. Try some bird or deer-netting, it is in a packet or roll, and spread it out over your garden if seedlings are coming up. They get their paws caught in it and then don't go near it. It does not hurt them, but they will think twice about jumping in there again. Works for me every year.
Reply:It's already been said, but citrus rinds might be a good place to start. Inexpensive and adds a pleasant odor - but is offensive to cats. Great option if you already have citrus in your diet, just toss the rinds in the yard. Any citrus works - oranges, lemons, grapefruits, etc.
Reply:spread moth balls around the edge of flower bed.
Reply:I have used moth balls in my outdoor garden and only the first day did I smell them. The neighbor's cats however stayed away from then on. Be careful with this if you have small children.
Reply:you can sprinkle ground up orange rinds alone or mixed with coffee grounds ( coffee can either be fresh or after you have brewed). If you don't use coffee - buy the cheapest brand and use that. It also keeps skunks away.
Reply:PEPPER DUST
Reply:I found decorative pebbles around my pots or white gravel worked a treat . Believe me cats will not dig in it. These days you can get all sorts of materials that are used as a decorative mulch like crushed glass in different colours or even the rustic river stones look really good and can be purchased by the trailor load. Not only that but they will also serve as a mulch protecting your soil from the scorching sun.
Good Luck
