How can I stop cats from using my flowering beds a kitty litter box?

I just recently cleaned my flower bed out to prepare it for gardening. As I suspected the neighbor hood cats have been using it as a kitty litter box! What can I use or do that will stop this, but wont harm the flowers I intend on planting?

Try moth balls, they work for me. Also try red pepper if you are not comfortable with the moth balls.
Reply:Lay chicken wire on top of the soil.
Reply:I agree with the red pepper and have used it you can get at a dollor store to keep cost down and apply to ground and reapply afterrain cats usally remember after the second time and pepper wont hurt your other plants grow on
Reply:Lime now and plant some merigolds to keep them away
Reply:They sell something at the Pet Supply store that you can spray that will keep them away. . . I am not sure if household amonia will harm your plants, but that will also keep them away
Reply:get a dog.
