Flower beds and cats....../?

How do you keep your neighbor's cat out of your flower beds come springtime?? Any good ideas??

Any gage would probably do nicely, but I recommend a 12 gage with double ought buckshot. It's shot pattern over about fifty feet might even allow you to hit the cat's owner as well.

DISCLAIMER: I do NOT advocate hurting any living animal and responded as I did above only in an attempt to be humorous. My neighbor's cat comes over all the time and catches mice from a ditch out front. I love that little fluffy kitty.
Reply:Cats like to dig before they potty, right? Make it harder for them to dig. Put down a gravel mulch around your plants. Alternatively, you could find an old length of chain link fence, cut it to size to match your flower patch, and then apply a layer of any kind of mulch to cover it. They won't dig through THAT!

If you put a "wanted" ad in your local classifieds, you might even get a piece of chain link fence for free. If you do get it, you can put it down anytime before your plants sprout... they'll grow right up through it! And kitty will look for better digging!

Hope this helps!
Reply:Plant catnip in another area of the yard. I read this a long time ago in some gardening magazine.
Reply:i heard that the best thing to use is moth balls.they hate the smell it keeps them out of in-doors plants as well.hope it helps i love my gardens too and the last thing we want are intruders.good luck!
Reply:All these ideas are great, except for Tom T! ha, I know you are kidding.

Personally, time to talk to the NEIGHBOR!!!! Tell them if the cat is NOT kept home, and continues to use your plant bed as his bathroom, you will be happy to capture it and take it to the pound!!!!
Reply:You can buy these mats or make your own. Egg shells might help too. Cats do not not to step on sharp objects. Be careful of dogs and children if you make your own. You don't want to hurt them:
